SUMMARY:

 

Once home to the bustling Toudouze Market, Vitré draws on the site’s French roots to deliver a unique, mixed-use development in the heart of Downtown San Antonio’s cultural arts district. Comprised of 242 multifamily units and 5,000 square feet of street-level retail space built atop a two-story parking garage, the project design will enhance and compliment the vibrant architectural styles on the Near Westside. Blending both historic and modern motifs, the ornate façade and canopy of the historic Maureaux Building (circa 1920) will be restored to preserve the structures old-world charm, while new construction will provide residents with all the comforts and conveniences of modern urban living.

 

Taking its namesake from the French word for ‘windowpane,’ Vitré has been heralded as the Window to the Westside, representing both the property’s geography and the transformational urban renaissance occurring in and around San Antonio’s downtown core. The project is located in the historic Cattleman’s Square district with close proximity to University of Texas, San Antonio’s downtown campus, Historic Market Square, Milam Park, Centro Plaza (VIAs state-of-the-art multimodal transit center), the River Walk, Main Plaza, and the $174 million San Pedro Creek improvements project slated to open in 2018. In addition to easy access to Interstate 35, the property’s ideal location will provide future residents with abundant transportation, entertainment, recreational, and cultural resources to enhance their quality of life and amplify their lived experience.
